Safeguarding

Safeguarding is not an optional extra; it is at the heart of everything we do at Fowey River Academy. We are committed to creating a safe and supportive environment where every child is protected and their well-being is a top priority. Safeguarding is embedded in our practices and policies, ensuring that all students can thrive and grow in a secure setting

HOW WE PRACTICE

Safeguarding at Fowey

The terms "child protection" and "safeguarding" are frequently used interchangeably, but they have different meanings.

  • ‘Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children’ is defined as:

  • Protecting children and young people from maltreatment

  • Preventing the impairment of their health or development

  • Ensuring that they are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care

  • Enabling them to have optimum life chances and enter adulthood successfully

If you are worried about online sexual abuse or the way someone has been communicating with you please click the CEOP button below:

CEOP Safety Centre

CEOP helps any child or young person under the age of 18 who is being pressured, forced, or tricked into taking part in sexual activity of any kind.  You can visit the CEOP Safety Centre for information and advice and make a report directly to CEOP.

PROMOTING THE WELFARE OF CHILDREN

Commitment to Safeguarding

Fowey River Academy is dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment, ensuring the safety and well-being of every student.

Safeguarding Policies and Procedures

The school has a Whole School Safeguarding Policy and associated procedures to ensure that any Safeguarding or Child Protection concerns are addressed efficiently and appropriately. This policy outlines the steps and guidelines that all staff must follow to protect the well-being of children.

Zero Tolerance to Abuse

Any form of abuse—whether sexual, physical, verbal, or mental—is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated within our community. The safety and welfare of our students are paramount, and we are committed to maintaining a safe environment free from harm.

"The teachers at FRA have helped me through a really difficult time…they were friendly, caring and I always felt trusted…"
